Phobias

Frightened of spiders?  It’s a common enough fear, and understandable if you are faced with a spider which can cause you harm or pain.  What about innocuous things, though?  For example, butterflies or cotton wool?  It really doesn’t matter what sets you off with your fear.  The point is that, dangerous creatures and situations aside, many phobias are completely irrational and interfere with our enjoyment of life.

Phobias are classed as one of the anxiety disorders.  However, there is good news.  Many phobias are relatively easy to fix because we know how they started, we know how they continue, we know how they get worse and we know why they are not going away!

Make an appointment with me and together we’ll face the fear head on.  The photograph above is me holding Pepper the Tarantula.  Seconds later, my client did the same thing.  See gallery for more photos.  I’m not going to make you do anything you don’t want to do.  I will always ask you if you are comfortable doing something, and if you would like to do it.  The therapy does not involve suggestion or post-hypnotic suggestion.  I am with you every step of the way, encouraging and supporting.

Jim, ex-arachnophobe, had this to say afterwards:  “I’m a man in my 40s, and a full-blown arachnophobe for as long as I can remember. I was in a bad way. The mere sight of a spider had me scrambling from the room wondering how on earth I was going to deal with it. I was always on the look-out for them around the house: in the bath, corners of rooms, ceilings. I couldn’t put the light out to go to sleep at night without checking the room was spider-free, but after one – yeah, just ONE – session of hypnotherapy with Alyson, within a couple of hours I was holding a real live tarantula in my bare hands! Needless to say spiders hold little horror for me now. I found one this morning and was able to trap it, let it crawl on my hand and then I put it out the window. No anxiety, no drama. Alyson – you’re a wonder! This has changed my life in a big way, and I can’t thank you enough.”

And I can’t thank my clients enough.  I learn so much from them, and get so much from seeing them get better.  It’s the best feeling in the world.  Plus, I get to hold tarantulas and pythons!  What a great job!
