Alyson studied social sciences at Langside College, where she achieved an HNC Social Sciences, with merits in psychology. In 2005, she graduated with an MA (Hons) in classics from the University of Glasgow. Her primary areas of interest were ancient religions, magic, rituals and folk beliefs in ancient Greece and Rome, specifically with regard to their psychological effects and causes.
In 2006, Alyson went on to do a certificate in hypnotherapy with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, after which she also qualified with a Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy.
Alyson now has many years of experience working with various different anxiety and panic disorders, phobias, smoking cessation, anger management and psychosexual issues.
This year, Alyson completed a course in Social Psychology, and was particularly interested in conformity and aggression. She is currently studying addictions. Her essays can be read at this link. Alyson has a special interest in the use of hypnosis in medicine, particularly hypno-anaesthesia, hypno-analgesia and hypnosis as a method for reducing blood pressure. Alyson is also a published writer. Her non-fantasy stories have psychological themes. These books are due to be published throughout 2013-14. She is now offering Writing Therapy as a way to ease trauma and significantly improve mental well-being.
